Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to identify the Stable Period of LOS in inpatients over 60 age, to examine their readmission style.
A 700-bed general hospital (K hospital) and a 300-bed general hospotal (H hospital) is selected for the study.
@ES Main reault of the study and their implications could be summarised as follows:
@EN 1) The stable period of LOS in old inpatient is identified at 9.2% cases in K hospital, 21.6% in H hospital. Their average to total case is 0.34day in K hospital, 1. 38 day in H hospital.
The expense at stable period per day is 29,125 won, which chiefly consists of admission management, room, meal, oral medication charges. This expense is very lower than total expense per day, 105, 735 won.
This suggest that treatment action at stable period is not active and so that hospital income is decreased at stable period. Therefore stable period is not Iucrative for hospital and inpatients. For the early discharge home visiting nursing is
necessary.
2) the readmission patients within 6 months after pre-admission in chronic diseased old inpatient are found at 15.7% of patients in K hospital, 5.9% of patients in Hhoapital. The readmission patients within 6 months after this admissiojn in
chronic
diseased old patients are found at 15.7% of patients in K hospital, at 22.0% of patients in H hospital. The average of outpatient visiting number per 4 weeks between readmission period is 1.3 in K hospital, 2.4 in H hospital.
This infrequent outpatient visiting number suggest that there is some barrier in outpatient visiting. To remove the barrier home visiting nursing is requierd.
